my latest GUNDAM plastic model kits, and my 1st MasterGrade since I came here to Japan.
well, I did collect a lot of GUNDAM plastic model kits, but most of them are from the SEED n SEED Destiny series... feeling both series sux, after reading GUNDAM THE ORIGIN [link] , drawn by Yoshikazu Yahiko Sensei.. I realized that the original GUNDAM saga is the best among all GUNDAM series, from militarism to humanism, eventhough the anime was made during late 70s... I keep myself from watching the original series before, because I thought the animation was sux. but, after watching almost of GUNDAM series from destiny to backward;i.e. Turn A GUNDAM, GUNDAM WING, GUNDAM X, my eyes slowly managed to adopt the oldies anime style. but, what I really shocked is, when I watched Char's Counterattack.. the movie where the final stage between the Protagonist Amuro Ray, and the antagonist Char Aznable. The animation was superb... unlike nowadays anime which offer mor fanservices rather than quality of the series.... enough talking.... now I present you, the Newtype Amuro's PWNING Coordinator Shinn... next time I'm considering to buy RX-93 nu GUNDAM and SAZABI.... |

You would not know how long it took me to find this damn thing...
It's quite the opposite with me though, Mobile Suit Gundam is actually the Gundam show that got me into the whole Gundam series. I mean, I seen bits and parts of Gundam Wing and Endless Waltz, but they didn't really drew me in. When Cartoon Network first aired Mobile Suit Gundam, I was hooked(I know it's CN, but still...without it, I wouldn't even know what the hell an "anime" is). I got to say, I absolutely adore older animation for some reason so this show instantly caught my attention and the themes did so as well(like you said about the militarism and humanism). Afterwards, I watched later Gundam shows mostly from oldest to newest.
Heh, right now I'm on a MSG marathon now. I still haven't watched all of Gundam Seed yet(that's due to me not being able to catch the episodes as they air on TV, or used to. So I'll have to rent them on DVD).

I just crapped my heart out! D:
never thought that the story and plot was that good. and indeed, the 1 year war is the best among all.
if only they could remake the anime (I think they wont, as it goes for the cost, and apparently thay have started selling the DVD version of the series in Japan for the 1st time)
and I realize that the CE series is such a crap, and was made for money, that the story. we can see how the new series copied a lot of thing from the original Gundam.
for me, my rank for the best series for gundam:
1. mobile suit Gundam aka 1st Gundam
2. Gundam wing (for the plot, philosophys of war)
3. TurnA Gundam (you'll see Gundam in the different but creative way. no such thing as newtypes)
4. Gundam X (for anybody looking for true love series... and for anybody who loves eureka seven)
t5. Gundam Z and Gundam 08th MS team

1. Mobile Suit Gundam (This is the one that started me on Gundam. I will always adore the he cast, the story, the animation, music, etc).
2. Gundam Wing (It was slow at first, but at the end I couldn't help, but cheer for all the characters. I also liked it for the same reasons, the philosophies of war and plot.)
3. Zeta Gundam (Even thought the ending was real depressing, seeing the original MSG characters return made it awesome.)
4. G Gundam ( I know, I know. It's not as deep or epic as the UC universes, but it was something fun to watch. I recommend it for those who are looking for a Street Fighter infused, all whacked out, bit corny, Super Robot version of Gundam. This one I have a soft spot for, it was the first of the non-UC Gundam shows that I was introduced to.)
5. 8th MS Team (The story and plot. I really liked the ending as well.)
Honorable Mention:
Gundam 0083(Gato was awesome, what can I say?)
Gundam F91(Would that make Sicily and Seabook the first pair of Newtypes to survive? I mean, the both of them. Every other UC Gundam show I watched that had two newtype love interests had atleast one of them die.)
Ofcourse, my rankings will always change as I watch more Gundam shows I haven't seen yet. I only watched several episodes of Gundam Seed, so I can't make much of a judgement on the CE universe. Well...the first place ranking won't change though.
